Prices one b16 heads?
Just wanted to know some prices on b16 heads. This guys gonna sell me one for $435.00 out of a wreaked 99 Civic Si. Is that a good price? Planning to do a ls/vtec swap for my CRX.
Thanks Aaron

heh, very short life of the motor, but $400-500 is about average as stated above. They are not very reliable motors at all

sure the reliability sucks when you just slap the head on and expect to rev to 8k everyday. but when built properly, as with any engine, it will last a very long time.

the problem with the ls/vtec is that the ls head doesnt have sprayers to push the oil up at the cylinders as does the other vtec heads. and this isnt something u can rig onto the engine either, pistons and rods help but u will never have the oil circulation of a true vtec engine, that is the basic reason the engines dont stand the test of time but they can be reliable nonetheless. good luck whatever u choose to do.

A complete head is really only worth ~$200, but there are way too many people around that are happy to overspend for one. Average market value is closer to $400.
Just a few months ago complete B16A longblocks where going for $450.
That's just one more reason to stay non-VTEC.
