So why a CRX?

So why a CRX?
Out of all the cars in the world you could have had for less then 3,000 bucks, why a CRX?
Me personally? Im sick of driving gas guzzling cars(my Z) or cars with no aftermarket....(had a 2000 Celica GT-S*sold*) and needed somthing cheap, quick and somthing that gets 30+mpg...
CRX with a b16 is where its at(total spent so far with car = $3900 give or take) even though I am ganna miss the damn near 50mpg of the HF's wapping 70hp...but the b16 should still get close to 35mpg driving 30miles all freeway 1 way to work each day...

I sold my crx a few years back, and regret doing it. It handled great, cheap to mod, easy to find parts at junkyards, swap possibilites are endless, etc. The only problems here in MN are rust and paint.

I just sold a crx si this week, I wish I hadn't, I miss that damn car. I will be getting another one after January though. I wish I never sold my car. It was in near perfect condition.

CRX's in phoenix are usually rust free....the one reason ill never move out of phoenix..its the best place to live if ur a car person..no salt, no rain...and if you have a garage, ur car in phoenix will last forever.

I picked mine up for $500 from a relative. I wanted to get rid of my car payment on the 2000 EBP Si (see sig link) so I got it and dropped the B16a in right away. Now I'm working on the suspension : LS Mesh wheels are on it and Koni yellows/GC coilovers (400F/450R) are in the mail. I'll post a few pics when its painted and looking nice.

you won't get anywhere close to 35 mph wth a B16 if you use the intended B16 tranny. But, if you're smart and mate the B16 with an LS tranny, you'll get the normal CRX 29-32 mpg. With the B16 tranny you'll be lucky to get 25 mph, because freeway rpm is so high.

Hell, my 2000 celica GT-S, 1.8 vvtl-i redline 8300rpm all day long got about 27-30 in the city..the finnal drive on the SI tranny isnt that bad, about 3500-4000 rpm at 70 or so... Thats less then 1/2 the redline.

i'm still trying to figure out how i found a 91 CRX Si in maryland with no rust... we get some salt being on the east coast although its not as bad as some areas... and we get a good amount of rain and snow...
i'm not sure why i like the CRX so much... i have two right now, trying to sell the dx and the Si is my project.
its true that the parts are pretty cheap and there is a decent selection, but i have a few JDM parts and they can get expensive.
my dx gets great mileage on the stock engine (avg 40 mpg). i haven't had the Si out of first gear yet because it is in the process of being rebuilt - i bought it real cheap since it was hit in the front ($450). so we're mostly just moving it around the driveway and on and off the trailer to go to the body shop
i've always preferred small cars, and you don't get much smaller than the rex. it handles well even with stock suspension, and has a decent cargo area for a small car. i rarely drive more than one other passenger, so the 2 seats doesn't matter very often, and i have a 4dr civic when i need the extra seats. i think i really like the bare-bones aspect of the car... it makes it so much more fun to drive, not to mention that i love driving a stick! i think there's a lot to why i love the CRX so much... but i'm rambling so i'll stop now
