Best swap for my plan
Sup HAN! I am having a hard time choosing a swap. Here is the problem. Me and my bro want to make the crx i have now into a race car. I want it for drag and he wants it for road racing. For drag, I want it to hit low 13's maybe 12's, I dont know, somewhat fast. Money is not a problem for the swap. No were not super rich to get another car and use 1 for drag and 1 for road racing. My brother wants it to hang with the top of his class. ITX I suppose. But I was wondering, what swap would be the best. B20Vtec for drag not good for road I guess. B18C5 for road. Can u please give me some feedback.. I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for the help in advance.

turboed b16a1, easy to put into the car, easy to maintain, lots of aftermarket parts, but it wont be an all out drag or race car, if u want all out drag car get an h22 turbo, for all street a b18c1 turbo project, with lowered compression and bullet proofed bottom end.

Id say the B18c5, its a torque monster, or a B20z with a ITR head. Now that would be SWEET. Also get some stronger rod bolts and have the block sleeved.
For turbo setup, have the block pinned, or sleeved if money is no option, crank and bearings come factory bullet proof, next get some new rods built for boost, i like the ones with oversize rod bolts, than some low compression pistions, if you get a ITR head all you really need to do is upgrade to stainless valves, last but not least GOOD MANAGMENT!!!!!
GET a FLUIDYNE RAD or something strong if you plan to go turbo.
Dont forget about a LSD diff, or a factory one, might want to upgrade with the axles to something good for 300+HP if you plan on running that much.
May want to upgrade braking power also, and get quality tires.
MAke it a sleeper, best kind of car IMH0

it'd give you a flatter tq curve in comparason to a b18c5. someone correct me if i'm wrong.

Id be close but the C5 is a torque monster, but the b20z wouldnt stand a chance in stock vs stock HP numbers!!

sorry, i meant b20vtec by b20v. maybe thats only what my buddies say:dunno:
anyhoo, the c5 head/valvetrain is a good setup, but it would do better with the extra cubes. but yea, you gotta strengthen up the block of a b20
