The first generation HF is hella lighter then any second gen. Plastic fenders, aluminum rear brake drums, lack of impact beams... it has like zero dead weight. It is also a carb'd 1.5L (EW1/D15A2.)

Parts for a 1G CRX:
www.opmmotorsports.com
www.nopionline.com
www.redpepperracing.com
even www.modacar.com has performance parts for the engine

then of course, if you're going to swap in an engine, HASport is your place. It's pricey, but as long as you can get the wiring all correct, a 1st Gen with a b-series is a true screamer.

cool. good too see 1stgencrxer has some experience with first gens. maybe if I need help you can help me. Ive been thinking I will go with the first gen. I like older cars, love the Rex's. I will for sure fix up the crx. If I like it so much I will get a second gen too! Well the first gen is cheap too only 800, this guy selling it er well through a co-worker is going to try get the price lower, so even better. The Crx is in great condition. I will be happy. I know the perfect license plate... C-REX. I will defiently keep ya guys updated. Ill post some pictures before and afters. I love this fourm. You guys own. Peace.

Having driven both body styles of CRX's, I would have to say the quick handling of the 1st gen is quite addicting Makes a second gen feel sluggish

The first generation CRX/ third gen Civic body is a more "hardcore" perfomance build. It is much lighter, but it is also older and more outdated. A few companies make aftermarket parts fot them, they are just few and far between, but it swaps many parts including the engine (D16A1) with the first generation Integra. If you want to go for the absolute fastest, lightest car possible, this is the body to use.

The second generation is a lot heavier, but it is still a very lightweight car overall. Everyone and their grandmother makes aftermarket parts for them, they use a fully independant double wishbone suspension, they have OBD-1 computer systems that are easier to swap with, etc. It swaps some parts with the second generation Integra, however the Integra B18A1 engine will not bolt straight in. It is cheaper and easier to build this body, but you will blend in with all the other second gen CRX's.

I prefer the first gen body. They're cheap, fun, and simple. I'm a big fan of the D15A3 Si engine, even if it is "only" a 12 valve. h:

I think I found a company that makes turbo manifolds for the first gen Si, too. :naughty:
2nd gen CRXs and EF civics are all OBD-0. Other than that, kai is dead on. Don't go with the 1st gen unless you know what you're doing. You aren't gonna find a lot of bolt-in swaps, which is on the one hand fun as hell because you actually get to do custom fab work, but on the other discouraging for the nonchalant weekend mechanic who just wants to bolt on i/h/e and have some fun.

I was going to point that out, no OBD on the second gens.

Plastic fenders? Will these fit on my Si?
Both my fenders are screwed up and I sure wouldn't might replacing them with lighter plastic fenders when I do. They won't rust or dent as easily as the shitty ones I have on there now. I've dented both sides by accident because they are so damn weak.
