My tips for tuning your car audio system:

1) Eliminate the Sub/Amp from the equation, you can do this by either disconnecting the amp or (what i recommend) turn the gain on the amp all the way down...don't worry, we'll connect it back again.

2) Turn your front/rear speakers to a moderate level

3) Use whatever DSP your head unit (or if you are using an OB processor, now would be the time to engage and adjust that) has and set the EQ to your personal preferance

4) Turn the front/rear speakers to as loud as they will go without distorting.

5) (It helps to have a friend do this while you listen to the system from the driver's seat) SLOWLY turn up the gain on the Sub amp until the bass from your Subs fills out the sound of your system.

6) Check that the sound quality is satisfactory over the entire range of your system, soft to loud. You're done!

**I suggest setting up the system so that the overall output is shaped like a pyramid...that is to say there are more lows than mids, more mids than highs...but that's my personal preferance. It's your car, so in the end it's up to you!**

Ive herd the pioneers are good bang for the buck. Also with subs you have to make sure the box size is within spec of the speaker. Different speakers will react differently to the same box. Last thigns wieght isn't everythng. There are some heavy duty speakers out there that sound very crappy. Most are geared toward being loud.at any cost. Som flea market ones look heay just to fool you.

thanks for the tips tnrplaya

and i'll have to try the different speakers in the different boxes. maybe his box would be better for my speakers and mine for his. :dunno:

and i know that you can't tell by weight alone. they just seem a little nicer. :dunno:
