Default Alpine 7897 vs Pioneer Premier P940MP *pics*

My friends and I have used Pioneer head units mostly. With their flashy displays (animation, screensavers, etc...) it has me thinking, are you paying for the display or the sound quality?

People stand by Alpine products and dispute they are some of the best in the business, which I'm sure is undoubtly true. I'd love to hear some personal experiences with either of the two models mentioned or anything else I should be aware of. I'm leaning towards the Alpine...but here are my two choices:

pioneer 94db SN ratio

Alpine 105db SN ratio

Alpine wins hands down for sound quality, reliability and overall performance.

I agree they are not the best looking decks... but thats their style, they've always looked very similar to that... it sets them apart from all the other brands. They focus MUCH LESS on visual appeal and screen savers and all that useless crap and make a great sounding deck.

Hey Mike, I was wondering... that pic of your car in your sig, the one all the way to the right... was that intentional to get the Honda sign in the background??

Thanks for the input...And actually, no it wasn't intentional. We were just driving and my friend happen to get it in the picture

I think the oversized Alpine deck is cool as hell!!!! Who else has come up with that kind of innovation??? 1.5 din size that slides back in for a stealth look???

I'd take an Alpine over a Pioneer anyday.... But that's just my opinion...

Somebody who has an Integra has that deck also.... Can't remeber his name though.... Might wanna try a search here because he bought it right when it came out...

I know they are the first... and it is quite possibly patented by them!
