You asked for opinions so here it is. I think 10's hit tighter bass than 12's. on the other hand 12's are slower bass more ripple in the car. I like slow lazy bass thats not always loud thumping all the time 10's react quicker and hit constantly. I run 2 12's and i am gonna go with 1 18 cause i like it slow and low.

The power difference is not that big of deal they r real close anyway.

Now 3 10's on the other hand i cannot say anything bad about cause i have shattered local records with 3 10's sealed and it caused damage to my car big time.

haha... its all about the box design, and the SPECIFIC subs you are using. Put an MTX RFL 15 in a box and throw 30hz to it, and tell me it plays better lower (if at all without roasting) than an Orion H2 10... you will eat words quickly.

My single 12 box was an amazingly low hitting box peaking at 40hz, yet my current 15 box is tuned high and peaks @ 64hz . Anyways, enough of my rambling.

Get a good set of subs, and a good amp to power them, and compliment those items with a quality box tuned correctly for what you desire, and voila, you are happy.

if im correct...2 subs can be diffrent sizes and the smaller one can be louder. but it cannot be lower because theirs no way it moves as much air... im an sq man and thats the theory ive always adhered to

All bass is, is the ability to move air. Displacement = cone area x stroke (or xmax). If one has less cone area but has a lot more stroke then it will be able to move more air and therefore be louder. The freq doesnt really matter as long as you have the displacement. Some speakers can move enough to make up for the loss of cone area but it all depends on the particular subs you are comparing.
