Default Alternative amp locations

Since we actually use the hatchback area with the seats down, I need to locate the soon-to-be-installed Alpine MRD-M300 amp somewhere aside from the back of the rear seat. I know it can go under one of the seats, which is what I will probably end up doing. Are there any suggestions other than under one of the seats? Any creative ideas? Anything I should know before I install under one of the seats? Any problems or tips to this install?

if the amp puts off a lot o fheat, under the seat is a bad palce to place the amp, due to the fact that very little air circulation really gets down there. One thought is to mount it in the spare tire well, you won't have a spare, but that's what AAA is for. You'll want to mount it on a piece of wood however, as I imagine the positive wire coming contact with metal being a bad day for you.

Another thought is to mount it on the side of the cargo area.

Im not sure what year hatch you have but here are some pics to help with ideas. These pics are for a 96-00 hatch. The one is an idea for a fiberglass mod (had some fun with photoshop)

Love the idea of a custom fiberglass box on that side of the hatch, but since I have no practical experience with fiberglass, or box building, I am SOL. I wish Q-form would make a vehicle specific box for us, but that is beside the point. Thanks for the internal 'guts removed' pic of the hatchback. I may mount it to the side of the cargo area, if it overheats under the seat. I won't be pushing the amp very hard, so hopefully it wont thermal protect.

I just recently started to fiberglass. I started off with a small project for school and very quickly learned the how to's of fiberglassing. Its not hard, ask anybody who has done it. And just a little FYI, i have 4 amps in my hatch, 2 behind the rear seats and 2 under the front seats. I have never had a problem with the amps under the front seats overheating, but then again, they are only pushing about 400W.

Thanks for the info KuttinEdge,
The Alpine amp is rated at 300W max, so I probably won't have any trouble with mine under the seat.

Actually, it seems that you have the Infinity Perfects DVC, why not run the sub at 2ohms? This means that your amp is now pushing 600W @2ohms. The Perfect can handle it!!

:werd: That is the same thing that the new Acura RSX S does with their factory amp.
