ok im stuck on which amp and sub i should get.....im only going with 1 sub....ok here is what it has come down to

subs:

Rockford Fosgate Punch HX2 RFD2212

Solo-Baric L7 S12L7

mtx 8000


amps:

rf punch 601s 2 channel


MTX THUNDER 502

and maybe this one....KICKER KX600.1 AMP


keep in mind that i have 8 gauge wiring........and with the solo baric anyone know what kinda box i would need?....b/c i have not seen a place that has the specs on the box......... which setup do u guys/girls think would be best?....give me 2 choices

Hmm, my first choice would be the MTX setup. I had a set of Thunder 4000 12's and was pleasantly suprised, I can only imagine what some Thunder 8000's w/adequate power can do.

Second choice would be the L7, those things hit pretty good.

 

I think MTX subs sound like ****ing ass. I've heard 4000's 6000's and 8000's, and all sounded extremely muddy and nasty. I have a ported L7 and kicker 600.1, and I like it pretty alright. It's a little too muddy for me, but that is because I listen to lots of rock/metal. If I put in some rap or techno, or something of that nature, it just sounds beautiful. Also, if your into SPL figures, it hit 138.8DB in a mecca competetion.

ever think about JL subs? I have 2 JL W3 12's and a JBL 600.1 mono amp can be extremely loud if volume is turned up but sound quality is really good when not competeing in SPL. The JBL amp is an older amp prolly about 3 years old or so but i think you can still find them around. 143.3 DB in my civic and 148.4Db in my previous Blazer

 

8 Guage wiring will be fine. It will get the Job done. I have 4 Gauge on my amp but i ran it previously with 8 and it was perfectly fine

 

2 more questions and ill be set......ok which will be better for the solobaric a rockford amp or a kicker?.......and i got the dual 2 ohm sub so will i have to get a different kind of amp?......thanks

 

with that you are going to want to get an amp that makes its power at either 4 ohms bridged or 1 ohm if its a monoblock. . that way the VC's can be wired in parralel in order to acheive the 1ohm load or series to get the 4ohm load

couldnt find the specs for the Kicker amp on their website but i assume it goes down to 1ohm in a safe manner.


Both amps should work, now its just a matter of which one you would rather go with and for what price

yea go with the rockford.
the Kicker doesnt put out enough power at the 4ohm level for what you are looking for and is not safely capable of running at 1 ohm.
