9005/9006 SilverStar conversion...
#11
I had some xenon plasma (9006) hyper whites in my 93 Accord and one burnt out in like a few months. I have Silverstars in and they seem to be working so far. They don't seem as bright so maybe thats a good thing, well at least I hope cause their a little spendy.

I just bought some bulbs off ebay, and they are "Glare: 12V, 5800K, 80W and 100W" I have no experience in this , but should I worry about them overheating or damaging anything in my 7th gen accord?

It doesn't matter now cause I have HID which are alot cooler.

have this on 6gen and when i inspect the beam pattern i cant help notcing the massive amount of light bleeding off to the sides, i can even see light reflecting above my garage door. anyone else have this or is it just me, and did you do anything about it?

You will have more light on the sides and up top due to the 9005s having 70% more light output then the 9006s.
I did mine with GE Cool Blues and had to aim my headlights down.
Without headlight adjusting you will blind others on the road, its just up to them if they signal you for it.
Silverstars are "alleged" to be the best for this mod.
Since they are close in color to HID lights.
But they seem to blow out faster then other headlights with this mod.
I've had my Cool Blues in for 7 months without a problem.

i've looked at my lights from other cars and different angles and i dont think it should be a big problem blinding other people even though i havent lowered my headlights ive seen many other cars that are brighter than mine.

i've had the silverstars for almost a year w/no problems. i'll probably switch to the GE superblues that i used to have though cuz the silverstars are too white and don't give as good visibility as the "yellower" bulbs on newly paved roads. they've been re-paving all the roads i drive on so i noticed that the silverstars don't work as well. it'll be worse once it starts raining all the time.

i have 9005 cool blues for my low beams right now. one blew out in like two months. i seriously doubt these are blinding other drivers, they are just not that bright. i think they look good though. not an "HID" look, but just nice, white headlights.

I've never had any problems ....looking directly into them may hurt your eyes from a distance, but I've seen my car from another car (someone else was driving it ;o)).......and it didn't seem to be too bright at all.
the reason high beams blind drivers typically is just because the beam patern is aimed more up. Stock beam pattern on the low side would allow you to run just about any brigthness without blinding other drivers - assuming the car was set correctly before.
