Default check engine light, code 43

The Mom's Mobile is having an indermediate driveablity issue. About 30 or 45 minutes after warm up the car will loose power and begin to (intake) back fire.

It does this for less than a minute until the check engine light comes on and the computer goes into back-up mode, then it clears up and runs fine although the light stays on. Upon key off and restart the light will stay out until this happens again.

I looked up this code on an unconfirmed source and it vaguely states, "defective or malfunctioning fuel supply system". Can someone give me a better description of code 43 and perhaps a troubleshooting procedure.

Detailed troubleshooting should be specific to your generation of Accord. (Remember your ECT sensor...)

Couple general things? Check your fuel pressure regulator - there should be NO gasoline in the vacuum hose. Misfiring? How's your plugs, wires, cap, & rotor?

Jim, as you know I have done a lot of work to her car. It has new...

plugs and wires
head gasket
water pump
timing belt and belts
radiator fan
ECT wire/connector
battery

This issue was happening before I did all this work and I'm wanting to clear up everything at once. I couldn't afford the cap and rotor (yet) but would this cause the light to come on? Where is the fuel pressure regulator and at? I'm just checking the hose for fuel? I may put a new fuel filter on it but I'm not sure if that's "check engine light" related.

There's a list out there somewhere, I don't remember it all. Fourth maybe? For example my '98 is 6th gen. ('98 - '02). My '98 has lots in common with '02 but it's way different than '97.

Does anyone know where the fuel filter is located on a 1990 Accord 2.2 automatic. I need to change it. TIA

I still can't find it, I've looked all under the car around the fuel tank and lines. Could it be under the hood and if so, where?

I don't know what years even had them... Our '98 doesn't have one. It only has an inlet screen on the fuel pump - inside the gas tank.

Our '95 Integra has a fuel filter mounted on the firewall, in front of the passenger. Try following the fuel lines under the hood.
