Default Milage where is it stored?

on the 6gen where is the milage stored? Is it stored in the ECU or is it stored on the cluster it self? Or is the milage stored somewhere else...

i'm guessing it's just stored in the gauge cluster itself

i'm pretty sure it's in the cluster. i saw a car at the dealer pulled to the side. it had a note on it explaining that there was a new gauge cluster installed, so the milage was incorrect.

Does that mean if i bought used cluster from another ACCORD (6gen) with lets say 20,000 miles it will register as 20,000miles when I replace it with my current one?
If this does "work" I can go keep a spare low mileage cluster and keep my Warrenty untill 3 years or 30,000 (hehehe) miles right....??

whatever the cluster has inside of it in the chip, is what it's going to display, so if u get a brand new one, it'll say 0. My advice: get it from a junk yard, no questions asked there. The dealer probably makes a note on ur car and sends some info to the DMV... the shops dont.
