Tint question (legal side of it)
As I know front tint is illegal (cars look so good with it though), so I went out and got myself a tint for rear windows today. After that at work, my co-worker told me that he heard that for cars made after 2000 or so, it's legal to have front tint (he wasn't sure but said 50% or so) because some new cars have tint as an option. Hence the cops won't stop and give tickets if they see a new car. How far/close to truth is this statement? Anyone know for sure? Thanks.

This *tint* you or he is speaking of is Solar tint, which just has a green or blue hue to it. not actual film.

its a bit gray area. There is some vechical codes that allow film that transmits 70% light or more.... but I dont know if it is restricted for medical use or anything. I got the lightest shade which is like around 70% so I figure I'd try to use that if I get ticketed... and since my rears are so dark (like 30%), its harder to tell my front is tinted since its like 70% in the front.

To be safe 70% tint. Don't go lower then 50%. And the rear could be 35% or 22%.

How about this. Go to your eye doctor and say that the sun really hurts your eyes when you drive. I think they are authorized to give you a note stating that you are allowed to have tints. Just remember to always keep this note in your car. Have it framed in your car or something.
