Car warm up question...
#22
yeh..here in GA...20 degrees is about as cold as it gets on a constent basis during the winter months. Not much colder unless some kinda storm hits. On those mornings there is no way i'm gonna sit there for 10 minutes and freeze my butt off! I'd rather drive for 3 or 4 and then feel the summer breeze flowing through the cabin.

But the ideal thing would be remote start!! Can a remote start feature be installed by honda? Do they support it? I want to add a vibration sensor to my existing keyless entry system on my accord as well as that if tis possible. That'll be SOOO helpful in the winter. And when ur in a hurry too comin outta the grocery store.

You should be able to have the add a starter to your current system. I have an after market on mine and that is what they did

I always wait (if I can) until RPM is 1 or so. Especially in the winter.
My cousin has 2000 Accord and he says that according to manual you shouldn't warm it up even in the coldest days.
One of My theory was to warm up (for some cars) is compressions. Like my Vigor has high compression ratio, and if its colder enigne it will not perform as it should. For other cars it don't matter.

I don't know if paying for all the Honda Dealer mods would be really cost effective. Price it out. I think the after market would be best anyway. Besides, the Honda remote fob prob doens't have enough buttons?

YES!!! I would hate to get a used car from a person like that! I feel sorry for that car! My neighbors do that to their cars.
1.Start Engine
2. Back outta driveway
3. FLOOR it to the stop sign to get on the main road! Its saddening!!

... I just wish someone would to the ULTIMATE test on oil. Take identical cars and run them with different oil's and viscositiys for hundreds of thousands of miles on a dyno or somethin similar and see whiche engines wear out faster. But there are sooooooo many variables that come into driving that really cant be "evenly" simulated on cars. I thnk oil debates will go on forever as long as engines need oil to run.

I don't let my cars sit & idle to warm up. I sit long enough to put on my seatbelt & glasses, fix the mirrors 'cause the kids moved them... maybe 30 seconds. If it's cold I have to wait a bit longer for the windows to clear. But I WON'T drive hard until it's warmed up. Sometimes I just have to piss off the person behind me  trying to get out of the neighborhood onto the highway, because I won't pull out unless the space is big enough so I don't have to hammer on my cold engine.
Oh yeah... check out www.bobistheoilguy.com for endless 'discussions' about oil.
