Please be careful what you report on this message board, though. I know we all want to stay updated on what happens, but you never know for sure who reads this.

I'm glad to hear that we're finally getting revenge, but I do wonder why you'd park your nice cars outside and in the open. I wouldn't think about parking a competition car anywhere but inside a garage!

I had a pair of JL subs and a MTX amp stolen from my old Civic. The bastard who took it tried to get the headunit too, but failed miserably. He pried the crap out of the dashboard and broke a ton of stuff, but still didn't get the headunit. I kind of wish he would have removed the TWO SCREWS and just taken the headunit instead of tearing my dashboard apart.

Hey, let us in on this! What is this "modification insurance"? Is it an add-on from any car insurance co. ? Or is it standalone insurance? Please please please let us know! Thanx!

This will help ease us "modders" out there because currently we only get "stock" value for our cars(like mine when it was totalled!!!).

Thanx!

Dave
well when my insurance came out(new policy) to look at my car... the guy asked me if i had any "mods" etc... and how much they are worth... i told him the rims and the head unit... so i guess those would be covered if they were to be stolen.

Well, I don't have anyplace to park my cars except under any awning at the apartment complex that I live at... it's a really upscale place, but still... that doesn't seem to stop the thieves... it actually seems to bring them out in droves... but I'm moving into a house that I just bought and it has a huge 2 and a half car garage, so I'll be parking the cars in there, but my celica and my girl's pink celica.... yeah, I know... will both be parked in there, so our other cars will still be out in the open... which sucks... but there's not shit else I can do except park them in the backyard next to the pool and that's just ghetto.

As for modification insurance, not all companies offer it, but it's an insurance outside of your standard insurance that you can purchase, generally it's like buying a second policy altogether. You have to keep excellent records of all of your installs and all of the purchases though. I even make out receipts for the installation itself even if I do it myself, I have a friend make one out for me, because they will cover the installation itself too. I have USAA, which is military insurance and they are hip to it, so I'm sure that other companies are as well. My girl has I believe State Farm and they gave her a second policy for the same vehicle, so she just pays her insurance twice and that covers her mods and everything because of that.... it just depends on the company... It isn't cheap, but if you have a lot of mods done, then it's worth it...

My Old 2003 Celica was totalled out and I put about $50K into that car above and beyond the $28K that I paid for it.... and I had modification insurance on it and they wrote me a check for $68K, because they figured in about $10K worth of depreciation, so I used that to completely redo a 2003 Celica again, but this time I had lots of money to do it right from the start, so I have virtually everything I can think of done to it right now because I didn't waste money on stuff just to get me by until I could get the better stuff...

So definitely worth it!

DAMN, thats like my house and car...

Lets see first, my car broke into, stole nothing, just broke my damn window, left door open and killed my battery.

2 weeks latter, window broke again, 2 12" subs and 2 amps gone, oh and they tryed to get my $600 sony head unit but I didnt have the faceplate in their and they broke the glovebox trying to get it, but they didnt get it, MORONS... So I took that out got a $50 radio and put it in, I figured they would come back for rest by now...

Well then 1 week latter, my moms car gets broke into, and her alpine dec stolen. She didnt have a expensive one, maybe like $150 or whatever, its just her car came with tape she wanted cd so she just got a normal cd player for like $150, well they stole it, broke her dash... She had a neon tho, they didnt break the window, those things are easy to get in w/out breaking window... Oh and she had alarm, we never figured out how they got by that as it still worked...

Anyway, then 2 months latter my house broke into, EVERYTHING of mine GONE... most my parents crap GONE, my moms car had stuff from house they where gonna take her car loaded even, but I came home and I guess they where still here and the left out the back where they broke in... Cops found sock in backyard and that was it... We lost shit loads of crap, insurance is not covering most has we dont have receipts for EVERYTHING cuz we dont keep them FOREVER ya know, lol... But this is a pain, such a loss, I hate theifs... If I could just walk up and shoot one damnit I would... and sad part, I am like 80% sure who did it, but his moms is always home and hes an ass and would come back and get somthing at my house again like bust someones window or somthing....

We had no problems here till these peeps moved in now all these breakins, cops dont do JACK...

I say go do what you gotta do man, cuz I know how it feels, but at least you can get SOMTHING back... I got NOTHING...

Well, I have a house now, with a 2 and a half car garage. My apartment complex is a luxury apartment WITH SECURITY, so I didn't think that anything more than a good overhang was needed along with a car cover to protect the air brushing.... aparantly I was wrong.... What I really don't understand is how the security which is supposed to just drive around from 10-6 in the morning didn't notice it, unless they assumed it was me working on my car, like I do virtually every night, trying to figure out ways to yank out just a few more points...
