Default Looking to buy an Accord, need advise (lots of questions).

I did a search and came up with too many things that were unrelated.

I'm going to buy an Accord, actually my brother is, but I'm in charge of finding one. He lives in Cali and wants me to find one in Oregon cause it's cheaper. He's not in a rush, so I want to find an EX model.

He wants to spend around $3000-$5000. He likes the 90-93 body style. The 94-97 would be better, but they are more expensive.

1. Is the Accord the same as the Integra where the 90 and 91 are OBD-0 and the 92-93 OBD-1? Also, what are the generations?

2. Is there a certain year I should avoid?

3. Are there any special editions that I should look for.

4. I heard that the EX has 150 hp compared to the LX's 140 hp. Is that true?

5. Is it a bad idea to get an auto? I heard Older Honda auto's don't last that long.

6. Are there quarkes or problems that I should look for?

7. What color combinations were offered in both interior and exterior.

8. Does anyone know how many of each model were made each year just to see how rare some cars are?'

If anyone has any other information they want to share about the 94-95 please do so. Thanks in advance

well 4th gen's(90-03) generally have more problems.... main relay, etc.... and since they are older, generally more miles, in need of more maintenace... paint may also need work due to age/rust.

Id say 94-95 would be best, you can find a 5th gen EX in that price range, close to $5k. I have an auto 94 LX and the tranny shifts like new, it does shift rough but thats normal.... 5th gen EX has 140 hp, and the LX has 130. EX has vtec.

Colors.... ah. im too lazy, used cars are too hard to find a specific color... Id say white. 5th gen interior colors range from taupe, ivory, gray, and light blue/green color. the rarest 5th gen accord would probably be the 94 DX Coupe. Only year available in DX trim(coupe)... V6's arent rare, they were just not that popular.

Thanks, that helps a lot . So I guess I'll try to find a 94 EX and maybe a V6 if I get lucky. If that's too hard to find, I'll go for the 92 or 93 EX.

Is there any years that had leather? Even better, black leather? I've seen some LX's with the EX's allow wheels, how come?

the V6 was introduced in 95. No point in it because its really faster than the 4cyl 5-spd. Just save the money.

Leather was availalbe in 5th gen EX's... which also came with a leather steering wheel... theres quite a few leather equipped 5th gens.

5th gen LX's with the EX alloys were done by the owner.

Not neccessarily...the buyer could have gotten the alloys as an option when buying the car.

not really on 5th gen's. You would have to special order the 7 spoke EX wheels... LX wheel options would have been the accessory wheels.

there were no packages with the EX wheels.
