Default Re: Looking to buy an Accord, need advise (lots of questions).

1. Is the Accord the same as the Integra where the 90 and 91 are OBD-0 and the 92-93 OBD-1? Also, what are the generations?
i only know about the 5th gen which is 94-95 ODB-1 96-97 OBD-2

as far as generations, i dont know before the 4th, but 90-93 = 4th gen. 94-97 = 5th gen. 98-02 = 6th gen 03= 7th gen

2. Is there a certain year I should avoid?
its an accord, there all good as far as i know.

3. Are there any special editions that I should look for.
dont know.

4. I heard that the EX has 150 hp compared to the LX's 140 hp. Is that true?
4th and 5th gen EX = 145 vtec everything else 130 non-vtec.
6th gen 150 all i think.

5. Is it a bad idea to get an auto? I heard Older Honda auto's don't last that long.
personally i would go with a stick shift.

6. Are there quarkes or problems that I should look for?
i only know of the 5th gen. all the problems are minor. for example ive heard a lot of people talk about the climate control knob breaking, and power window regulator needing to be replaced.

7. What color combinations were offered in both interior and exterior.
no clue.

8. Does anyone know how many of each model were made each year just to see how rare some cars are?'
a whole lot.

If anyone has any other information they want to share about the 94-95 please do so. Thanks in advance  [/B]
ive had my accord (95 ex stick shift) for about a year now and its been good to me. you should be able to find a 94-95 for 5gs. i dont know what the weather is like there but its hot as hell where i live and it sux to have leather because its always so damn hot and sticky.

picked up my white 95 ex sedan auto with 120k in 01 for $6300. there are some little problems in the 5th gen but that shouldn't sway you from buying one. examples are: A/C temp knob, slow windows, bad powerlock motors, glovebox light comes on unless you rig it, etc...Nothing big. The 94-95 look better IMO and they are a lot cheaper compared to 96-97. Manual EX are hard to find but they are out there. My friend picked up a 97 EX manual with 57k last year for 10 G's I like my accord because it looks good and it's roomy. I tell everyone this: If you want speed, Accords aren't for you.

yeah, 4th do not have vtec. If you are going to get a 4th, which i like better, get a 92-93, because it does not have power seatbelts=pain in ass.
Tail lights on 92-93 are nicer.
But if you find an SE, they are auto, but the 91's have black leather, and the other years may as well.

You can pick up a 5th gen. Accord for about $5 k if youre patient. I picked my 96' Lx up about a month and a half ago for $4300 tax, title, out the door, so its not really difficult, just gotta have the patience if youre looking for a great deal.

Are u saying that power seatbelts are a pain in the a$$ or NOT having power seatbelts are a pain in the a$$?

Cuz i HATE power seatbelts! Very unsafe unless you do your lapbelt too, which NOBODY does because they THINK that the power seatbelt is enough! NOT!!!

well...

I would go with 92~93 EX or 95 EX..

Why?
92~93 EX
1. Moonroof
2. F22A6 Engine
3. ODB-I (Helpful with H22A swap)

95 EX
1. ODB-I (Helpful with H22A swap)
2. better looking OEM rims
3. Standard Accord VTEC Engine.
4. Moonroof

With your price range.. 92~93 EX is better choice..
Cheaper than 95EX and + have some money left to
do some basic maintance.. or other things..
