Hi,
I am a newcomer here. I am trying to buy a new 2dr coupe/hatchback (auto) right now. There are two candidates: Accord LX with airbag, or Acura RSX.
Since I am not familiar with cars, I wonder if you could give me suggestions on my purchase. One of my friends tells me Acura is weaker than Accord during collision. He says the only advantage of Acura is its accelaration performance, which does not make much sense to me, cuz I can have no place to speed up.
I appreciate your help.

 

It all depends on what your looking for. if you want all out performance and handling, go the the RSX in manual. if you need the extra room to put stuff in and your not looking to speed so much and maybe for some show, go for the accord. It all depends on what your basic needs are. and since you want an auto go for the accord cause an RSX in auto is a waste to me. You need a manual to get the full benefits of that car.

well they are two totally different cars, one is for hauling the family and the other is for you and someone else. decide what you need. the RSX will obviuosly be the performance oriented car in this group and if that's what you want, that should be your choice.

 

believe it or not, but the new Accord's DOHC K24 isn't anything to laugh at...

 

Well, they're two totally different cars. The Acura will not have noticeably better acceleration with an automatic, so don't worry about that. However, it will handle better. If I were you, I would get the Accord LX with side air bags seeing as how you really don't care much about performance. The Honda and Acura are both just as reliable as each other, and they both look great. It all comes down to your personal preference: Do you want the softer, more luxurious Accord or the more sporting Acura RSX?

it's a heavy biatch, it's nothing great.

base RSX>LX Accord

remember the base RSX will also have 16s and a moonroof along with it's sportier handling and style.

 

Heavy or not, the K24 is a gem. Best large 4 banger ever produced IMO.

The RSX will also have a better warranty, but I believe the Accord has some features on it...I'm just not sure what. I know the interior is a whole lot nicer.

 

yeah, since they're are 2 different cars to serve 2 different needs. I would probably have to go with the Accord, since I can barely fit in small cars...
