I'm ordering up some new brakes today, opnions?
So I'm going to order up some new brakes today(driftking has offered to help with the install ) So Nopi seems to have the most reasonable prices I can find. I'm thinking of getting 4 Brembo Blanks(I don't need cross drilled or slotted), and AEM rear and front pads. With out shipping, it will run me just about $260 for the rotors, and pads. You guys think that is a good deal, or do any of you know where I can get a better deal? I only use credit card cause I'm sketched out by pay pal.

that sounds like a decent deal. i had cross drilled front and slotted rears with aem pads on my prelude and it stopped on a dime but i had to change the pads every year because the rotors chewed them up. i would also suggest some stainless steel braided brake lines.

I've heard from some people that the stainless steel lines aren't necessary if I'm just using my car for a daily driver and it could be wasted money(over kill). The pads are the only thing I'm still up in the air about right now. I want a pad with decent stopping power, but I want it to have the same if not better wear as OEM pads. I was checking out tirerack, what do you guys think about these pads? http://www.tirerack.com/brakes/resu...rack&x=102&y=12

it's all about driving habits, my pads lasted me quite a while, they were half eaten when I bought the car and I went 45k on them, estimate around 80-90k miles on those stock pads. i brake lightly and early when I drive. they stopped just as well before i replaced them as when I first got the car, just that they were thinner.

i don't know about you guys, but my stock brake pads lasted me 115k miles. i kid you not. so to me, i don't think anything could outlast stock pads.

I'd say the stock pads are a decent balance between bite and wear. I would guess those "lifetime" pads you can get at local auto parts stores would have a little less bite and longer wear, just cause of the harder compounds in there so they last forever.

when i did my 120k early @ 115k (because of winter break), i insisted that my pads be changed and the rotors serviced. the guy said i was still okay on the front pad thickness but will change them due to turning the rotors. the mechanic didn't believe me when i told him it's my original set. i kept those brake pads for souvenir.

i think the brembo blanks and aem is a good combo, but i'm not sure if you need your rears done. i would slap some new pads on the rear and call it day. the rear rotors/pads don't take much abuse. i'm still on my stock rear rotors at 116k and changed the rear pads at 75k.

I know the front definately need to be done. I think driftking, and I will play it by ear to see if we should replace the rear rotors. Are the rear disc tougher to do than the front?
