H22 swap price...Good price???
Do you guys think $3300 is a good price for a H22 swap and manual conversion on a 4g. A local shop (MPH AutoMod) is doing the install and conversion for around $600 labor. Getting the complete swap kit from hmotorsonline for $2700 shipped. Eveything I need and the LSD tranny upgrade. What do you guys think? Any suggestions?

i don't think thats too good of a deal. Osaka is selling jdm h22a with tranny for 1850 plus shipping. Plus labor will be around 500, misc parts another 200 or so. I think u can get it done for about 2500. Atleast i've seen quite a few ppl that get it done for that price.

Also you seemed to have forgot all the other things in your pricing that go into a swap especially an auto-manual swap.
about ~$600 in 5sp parts
new clutch $300
timing belt/water pump
auto tensioner
plugs/wires/cap/rotor
plug gaskets/cam seals/valve cover gasket
fuel filter is a good idea
any new bolt-on parts, hi flow cat is a good idea
These parts can be the difference between having a reliable swap v. an unreliable one along with experience of the swap shop

remember there are different h22a's. Get one manafactured 1997 or higher because it has bigger crankshalft berrings. that means more oil is going to lube your crankshalft and bottom end in high stress conditions. hint hint racing . if you ever add a turbo this would be an important fact to keeping your motor alive
just my 2 cents

a 97+ H22 cost more money and is OBDII which costs more to swap and is more difficult. i don't think he wants to deal with that.

Yea they local shop has experience doing this. They are doing 3 this month already. And are trying to squeeze mine in this month.
97 + are OBDII as previousely stated and not worth the problems. We don't have inspections here so theres not a requirement for emissions. OBD1 is just 4 wires and splicing the coil wires for internal coil.
Right now I'm going to see what part I get. The swap kit pretty much comes with everything. They say there motors all have less than 35K miles to hopefully I shouldn't need anything else. I'm thinking about a High flow cat since I have 2 1/2 inch exhaust from there back already. My fuel filter is fairly new within the last year.
I'll check in to the bigger crank bearings.

it's much easier to replace the timing belt/water pump and the clutch with the motor out, do it while it's easy.the shop charged me an extra $50 in labor to do all that. to get it done later will cost about $600 in labor down the road. depending on how they hook up power steering you may have to buy a 97+ lude bracket.
good luck with the shop, cause that is so cheap it would have me worried.

I confirmed that the 97+ h22 has larger crank bearings thanks for the insight. Check out the September 03 issue of HCI (Hot Compact & Imports). They have a complete build up of a h22 with 725+ HP to the wheels. Its like a 15 or 20 page article. They used the 97+ crank bearings on a older block with a Type S cam shaft with a lot other stuff.
