Those of you with a wrapped header..

does it cost that much for it to be considered an investment? I thought it was like $20 for the wrap:dunno:
I'm thinking about wrapping mine cause when I painted it(hi temp 1200 degree paint) I didn't let it cure long enough so the paint started to peel right at the bend on each tube, just a small area the size of a quarter, but still. I was thinking I'd wrap it and play it off like I was trying to get some extra performance or keep the temp down in thereh:

im sure the wrap does help since headers are meant to keep the exhaust gases cooler, for more ponies, and if the wrap cools the headers even more, then im sure they would help, plus if they are rusty im sure it would look better then rust

The header wrap keeps more of the exhaust heat from soaking into the engine bay, so you will have lower engine bay temperatures, this is beneficiial because your intake piping will be cooler, and so your intake air charge will be cooler.

A header frees up power by having larger diameter piping, reducing backpressure, not by cooling the exhaust.

if you read the warranty card of your aftermarket header it usually says the warranty is void with header wrap. this is cause the wrap traps moisture which can cause rust and probably cause cracks in the welds prematurely too from the trapped moisture and getting hot.
header wrap is for race cars, not daily drivers.
