Default so lemme get this straight...

so lemme get this straight, only 98-02 v6's have messed up tranny's and go out after 50-80k miles right? I'll be coo if i getta 4cyl man tran. I'm still in the market for those years, but i dont want to get a lemon.

oh and, what if i got a v6 and modded it to a man tran, would that fix the problem (theoretically of course, since i would have to sell my body to pay for such a mod)?

the V6 trannys are extremely problematic. the 00's and 01's have their tranny warrantees extended to 100,000 miles, but the other years are SOL.

modding a V6 to a 5 or 6 speed is extremely expensive ... for 20K, you're better off getting a similar year TL-S or CL-S

thankx for the info. Yeah was lookign at a 3.2s cl but they arent as appealing as far as looks as the accord, and they are out of my price range (11,000 at the very most). I think ill just get a accord 5sp 4banger, i took a test drive today and they arent as slow as people have led me to believe .

BTW, the honda dood told me that all accords over 97 have vtec, is that true?

found the DX info on automovite.com

"Honda Accord LX Sedan:
For the ultimate combination of performance and value, the Accord LX Sedan should be at the top of everyone's list. Adding to the DX, it offers a 150-hp, 16-valve VTEC™ engine and an available anti-lock braking system (ABS). Inside, there's air conditioning, power windows, mirrors and door locks, and an AM/FM stereo CD player. "

not all 98 - 02's had VTEC

yeah, the 98-02 LX, SE, and EX all have VTEC, while the DX doesn't.

As for the V6, if you want a manual tranny, you can use the TL-S 6-speed, not the 4cyl 5 speed...
