Default [03 Coupe] Door-Lock Knob replacement (Slick)

Im back, with a minor interior mod. The door lock knobs on the new accord coupe are hideous. Freaking huge. Are you kidding me? who needs door locks this big.

Some may laugh, but i went to the obvious place for cool door lock knobs. My local VW dealership. I picked up a couple passat door lock knobs and screwed them into the holes in my 03 coupe.

Here is the end result. When the doors are unlocked, the knob (which is ribbed with little buttons for grip) sticks out a little more than a quarter of an inch. When the doors are locked, the knob is flush with the surround. This gives the door a really clean look.

here is a close-up picture of the knob

This is what it looks like when the doors are unlocked

And with the doors locked

Do you know if they'll fit my car? I hate having the door locks not flush with the door. I don't even use them...keyless entry owns.

The reason i picked the VW knobs is that the thread inside the knob goes all the way to the top. That way, you just buy the knobs, screw them on, measure where a flush point would be and cut the bottom off. Even after cutting the bottom of the knob off, it will still thread and fit in the hole. I cut about a quarter of an inch off of them to fit on my car. Hope that helps.

The knobs were about 3 bucks a piece, and i cut them with regular clippers. You could probally even cut them with a regular knife, they are just soft plastic

How easy is it to take off the door panel to get access to the knob? I am afraid that if it is difficult, I may end up with rattling doors.

Well, when that happens, I can always go to the dealer and have them adjusted I guess.... just hope that they will not notice the door knob has been circumsized :naughty:

Btw, u got a cool car Slick. I am thinking of tinting the 'pink' portion of my tail lights. What do u think? I hate those pinks.

Another question, is the diameter of that VW knob the same as the original Accord's knob? Otherwise, it may get too loose or too tight.

I would assume that the knobs screws simply screws out, and you screw the new on in. That's how they work on every car I've owned.
