wow. pretty rad concept. 5th gen coupe ownz cuz they dont have knobs, just those flippy things next to the handle.

fyi, new A4's dont even have anything for the door lock. when the car is locked, you can *always* open it from the inside.

Mmmh... dilemma...dilemma....

Safety is one of their concerns - my 00 Audi (which I happily sold to get a much better Accord) had those flush mount locks.

On an Audi, if the doors are locked and you pull the handle, the door lock pops up, then you have to pull the handle again to open the door. On a VW, the lock will pop up and the door will open in one pull.

nothing is gonna mess up man, just unscrew the shi out of it, then replace them, get the right door lock knobs, the 2002 passat knobs not the 2003 passat knobs.

- What happen if my car loses electricity i.e. keyless entry, power window, central door locks are all useless? How can I get out of my car?

I'm not sure about VW, but I know BMW and Audi use double-locking mechanisms. This means that the door locks can be unlocked by pulling the inside door handle twice when they were locked with the interior central locking switch. When they are locked with the remote, the door locks such that you couldn't use a jack hammer because the handle release mechanism is removed from the lock solenoid. The handles are essentially useless when you lock the doors with the remote.
