FYI,

All 2003 VW cars use different door knob (no ribs, just smooth door knob with a couple vertical lines) than the one used by Slick (ribbed one). I found that 2002 VW door knob is the one he used.

I am going to replace mine this weekend. Yeehaw!

Btw, did you take out the door panel or did you just screw out the old and screw in the new one?

The knobs are 2002 VW knobs. The diameter is a little bit less than honda's, but not noticable. IT DOES NOT RATTLE. if you are afraid that you will cut it too short, buy three, they shouldnt break the bank at 3 bucks a piece. I DID NOT take out the door panel, the knobs can be unscrewed and re-inserted without removal of anything. Any other questions, let me know.

Oh, and b168ag, tint those lights, pink is so ugly.
I have taken my car into the dealer 5 times after customizing the hell out of it, they arnt going to yell at you. Dont be afraid to customize your car!
Thx for the props.

Slick

Ok, I've just had mine done a few minutes ago but I have some thoughts now:
- What happen if my car loses electricity i.e. keyless entry, power window, central door locks are all useless? How can I get out of my car?

If this is a concern, why German cars have this kind of door knob (the one goes all the way down when the door is locked) - I thought safety is one of their concerns? :eh::shocked:

Mmmh... dilemma...dilemma....

Wow. You are one paranoid mofo. If your central door locks are useless and keyless entry stops working, God hates you.

If that ever happens; climb out through the trunk.

P.S. Buy whatever knob you want, whether it has ribs or not is useless since if you mount them flush like this, you'll never be able to grab em anyway.

I may try to cut my stock ones down...hell, I should just take them off. I never use them.

i special ordered 3 2002 passat door lock knobs a week ago, and i had just picked them up today, tried to change them but it looks ugly, mines with the vertical lines and the diameter is noticably smaller than the accord door lock knobs. damn 8 bucks down the drain. maybe what they got me are those 2003 vw door lock knobs.
