When I was getting insurance for my '03 Accord Coupe, my insurance agent told me a new Civic would be $300 more per year because of accident liability claims and stated the Accord is a much safer car. My insurance is $1100 Canadian/year, with accident- and ticket-free drivers, multi-car and home insurance discount, and the car is not used for commuting. My 10 year old Civic Si is over $900/year, but it's a commute car.
