i tried everything i could to mask off that area, but i had to paint over it. every kind of tape i used (electrical and painters) it would rip up the chrome.

I would like to keep the amber, but I wouldn't mind not having amber, it's just that the bottom part of the headlight would be "exposed." As in the reflector behind the amber strip would still be there, and would really look wierd. This is how it is on 95% of all people's blackhoused stock headlights.

here's what I am talking about:

Painting behind that would kill your light output since it would not reflect out.

You do realize that I'm referring to the strip relector, not the low/high beam reflectors?

Well if you look at that little wedge bulb in the strip when it's on, it barely works anyways, so I doubt I would be missing much by painting the reflector behind it.

It just depends on what you want that little light for. Some people leave it out completely. I keep mine because I need something to flash when I trip my alarm and for parking lights because I rigged my corner signal lights to only come on while signaling. So, it just depends on if you plan on using them at all.

Yes. There is chrome behind the wedge bulb in the strip. It isn't suppose to be bright cause the corner bulb also acts as a parking light. However the wedge bulb on the bottom strip is visible at night.
