Default Thinking of Getting a CAI

How "careful" do I have to be around water? The last thing I want is hydrolock from the engine. Also, what products would you recommend, and how many horsepower will I likely gain?

It's a 1999 Accord LX 5-speed.

It may add 4 or 5 hp, but people mainly get it for the increased engine noise.

You will gain about ~5hp varying on conditions...just get a generic one off ebay if smog checks do not concern you....

if you go over puddles from what i learned earlier just let off the gas as you go over them and coast thru the puddles. just remove the resonator, alittle safer then a CAI

I have had my AEM CAI on and off my Gen 6 --5speed many times back and forth with my stock airbox and no resonator. In my opinion there is no difference.

For FREE JUST remove your stock resonator--you'll get a nice deep tone at WOT and quite cruising with no whistle around town and good performance and the ease of cleaning the stock filter.
