intakes - name brand vs. low price?
how significantly does intake selection matter for a non-racing car?? i'm looking into getting one for my 98 4dr....i saw some cheap ones on ebay selling for 25 bucks...what would the difference be between getting one of those or a "name brand" one, like AEM for 120+ dollars???

understandable...but is it that big of a comparison??? are we talking major performance differences between generic and name brand or only slight differences in how the engine bay looks? keep in mind that i have no other performance mods at the moment (nor am i building a race car out of a 4 cyl accord)

I'm not very knowledgable about engine stuff (yet). Where is the resonator and how do I go about removing it? And what is the advantage of doing this?

judging from the price of 2 different type of intake above, I assume you are taking about short ram.
Well, if you don't want to spend that $120+, try this; get a generic short ram from ebay, and get a K&N cone filter that fit the generic short ram. Now you get a short ram almost as good as the AEM short ram....
You can get a K&N cone filter from local autoshop(about $50). The part number for a 2.5" pipe is 3950(I am not quite sure). Just bring along the pipe(or the generic cone filter) and the saleperson will find one for you.

all short rams are the same and all cais are the same too
you just pay more for the name
an aem is close to $200 but if you buy the pipe from home depot and a KN filter from a shop you can have your own intake for less than $60

Get the generic one. The AEM is just expensive and because they put your money into their CARB approval, but who actually pops your hood and gives you a ticket for an intake? Even if you say it's legal they still ***** about it and give you the ticket. That's why I'd say get the generic one. Same sh-t, different smell.
But if I were you I'd go with the K&N and take out the resonator. It's a much better combination and is definetly cheaper. If you have an 01+ coupe, you can even make a pipe going from your vent in the bumper to the intake box. Or you can get a bodykit like me and have your intake right behind the hole, but change/clean the filter every couple thousand miles. It draws the air directly from your speed of your car, but varies A LOT between nighttime/daytime driving temperatures. (You can feel how slow the car bogs down during daytime)

Friend borrowed digital camera today. Will get it back in a couple days I suppose.
See my driver side foglamp? well, the intake is touching right behind it. If you really want pictures, I'll try to have them up soon.
