Default 94 Accord - New Paint Job

Ok, I've basically just had this car dropped in my lap. Its a 94 Accord LX Sedan and it's rose red, a color I abhor more than almost any other. I'm contemplating having the car painted black. Any thoughts on whether this is a good/bad/ok idea would be greatly appreciated. The current paint job is in good condition with only a few chips and scratches and there is no rust anywhere on the car, but right now it's my mother's car and it'll never be mine if it stays this color =(.

the only reason it wouldn't be a good idea is if you don't have enough money to get the whole thing painted. its gonna cost quite a bit more to completely change the color because its gonna be a whole lot more labor to do the engine bay, trunk and door jambs. I say get some quotes so you can see the difference between repainting a similar color so you dont have to do the jambs, trunk and engine bay, and doing the whole thing. I think that will be the deciding factor.

lol, interestingly enough, black is what i wanted to paint it. I think I'm going to stick with the color though, as much as i don't care for it. Maybe I'll like it better when I get my wheels on it and the tint done. Beyond that, I'll probably just have the scratches and major chips touched up.

Well thats definitely what im gonna do at this point. I got everything I need to make the current finish look sweet as hell. I'll just live with the color. I just don't really think its a sporty color and thats the kind of image im trying to give it. I'll deal though, I'm sure I can do somet things with it. Does anyone have any comments on how well the Honda touch up paint works?

Its not how well the paint works, its how well you apply it. If you just dab the paint on the areas in which you need it, it probably wont look right. BUt if you prep, primer, paint, sand and polish then wax, it will be sweet, if you have the skills.

Lol, I would love a black accord too =(. as for skill in applying the paint, I built model airplanes for 10 years, I have excellent skill with a brush and I would actually prefer to airbrush the paint (though I don't know how to thin it). I would however like your input on what primer to use as well as what grit of sandpaper and brand of polish.
