I'm sure that most of the others will tell you to do a search and that it has already been covered... *I*, however will tell you that you chould either poder coat it or use engine enamel (Krylon has LOTS of colors) and follow the directions on the can. They are pretty good about prroviding the best practices for you.

What kind of valve cover? Some are plastic others are metal.
For my 94 (metal) i sanded and scrapped and smoothed the old finish down. then I put on a coupla coats of high temp engine enamel on it. Then I carefully sanded the paint off the lettering....
you could just paint the lettering with a brush.

While on the subject on the stock valve cover, does anyone know how to polish? I have a 94 EX, and want to get it to a mirror shine. I know you sand off that rough painted surface, and keep inscreasing sanding grits. I think you also use some aircraft quality metal stripper, or something along those lines. Then how do you make it shiney? Any help would be appreciated.
