Throw a K&N filter on it and you have your performance difference. From now on, I will have a K&N on every car I own. I'll even bring the filter with me to the dealer when I pick up a new car! Fifty bucks for the life of the car. Can't beat it.

Only use 87 or 91, guys. 87 is good for 240 horsepower, but Honda engineers (if they're lying, I give up) have said that using 91 will yield an increase in about 10 horsepower because the ECU adjusts fuel mapping. I doubt 93 would give you more power...you'd probably actually lose some. Good luck

If you can provide a quote of this statement I think we will believe you. But if the manual and countless people state that using 87 is fine and more will not net an increase in performance or mileage, then why use anything else? They have done the reasearch on this stuff extensively, so why would they lie about what gas to use, especially if they would be liable for false information?

They're not lying about which gas to use you fool, they're advertising 87 because it still lets the engine run to 98% of its capacity and is about 12 cents cheaper a gallon.

Hmm....hadn't thought of that. Maybe it's my 93 octane and advanced ECU that's causing all this gas slurping. I'll try with low grade next time and see what happens.
Also, stay away from those K&N's man. They're bad stuff. Very poor at filtering out dirt which results in early engine wear. Check out bobistheoilguy forums under "air filters" for all the data on this. I would not let a K&N within 10 feet of my new baby.
I never dreamed that high octane could cause problems. I'll report back when I get a chance.

Like I said in my previous post. If the manual says run 87 run 87. Running anything more is a waste of money and a decrease in performance or miles per gallon. Even if you can get 10 hp from using 91 octane spending an extra 25 cents per gallon is not worth 10 hp.

But I would say that if it were proven, then an extra $0.25 a gallon might be worth the increase, considering how much we spend on "permanent" mods anyway.

Since when is 91 25 cents more than 89? Here, it's like 9 cents.
Your owner's manual comment was absolutely idiotic. The owner's manual of the 6th gen Accord automatic says you can shift manually 1-2-3-4, but there have been numerous defective transmissions caused from that.
Once again, if you don't believe me, i don't give a shit. But two people who read the exact same thing just commented about it.
