How did you do your calculation? Is it possible you did the math wrong or didn't fill up your tank completely before you measured?

I've been averaging 27 to 28 mpg in mine including both city and (mostly) highway driving.

Well I'm pretty sure my math is right but of course I'll repeat the experiment on my next roadtrip. Thanks for the responses. I do feel better about it.

OH, btw Richtrader, what octane fuel are you using? I've been running it on 93.

I've been doing the 87 like the owner's manual says... it seems fine so far, but I don't drive as hard as some others on this forum seem to. Also, putting the cheap sh*t in is hard to get used to psychologically.

Maybe it is the brand of gas or something. Maybe he got a bad tank. Try Texaco or Amoco!

If it says 87 run 87. Running higher octane is a waste of money and you'll lose performance.

You're a dumbass, yet again :slap:

Only use 87 or 91, guys. 87 is good for 240 horsepower, but Honda engineers (if they're lying, I give up) have said that using 91 will yield an increase in about 10 horsepower because the ECU adjusts fuel mapping. I doubt 93 would give you more power...you'd probably actually lose some. Good luck

The first tank of gas went pretty quick on my EX V6 auto, but so did I from light to light. But this weekend I took a trip and found that it does get about 27 mgp, which is pretty good for a car with that much power.

You contradicted yourself my friend. If 91 octane yields 250 hp, why would 93 octane yield less? I would just run 87 in it. The car felt damn fast when I drove it, so I don't think any extra punch you get from the premium would justify the extra price.

I don't think I would justify it either.

I'm thinking 93 would yield less because the ECU can only advance timing and whatnot so much. That's why.
