**insurance Check Body Questions/cf Hood**
I have a couple questions aboiut body/paint costs and how i can save some money.
First off i was in an accident. It wasnt my fault so I have an insurance check coming from the "other" drivers' insurance company. I am not sure how much the check is yet, but the rep said it would cover the cost of the following....(this is for a 96 Accord LX btw)
Front Bumper
Pass. Fender
Hood
All lenses on passenger side(headlamp scratched bad, others shattered)
Rental car for length of repair
She also said I can be reimbursed for any damages not visible. I dont think any kind of alignment was screwed up so i believe everything's intact ecept for the body parts listed above.
Now I'm not sure how much she will cut me a check for but she said if there were any difference that she would reimburse me for it.
I was thinking of buying most of the parts myself direct, getting them painted at a body shop and installing them myself. Thats pretty basic for the fender and bumper(i think, since i've never took either one apart, i heard it wasnt too bad). Is the headlamp pretty simple as long as the bumper is removed?
The big dilema is the HOOD. I want to see if an OEM hood costs more than a GOOD CF hood. You can click my sig to see more pics of my car and tell me if a black CF Hood would look proper on my car. I already know it's a heck of alot lighter than your standard OEM hood. Also i heard that it doesnt have windshield washer cutouts so i gotta say goodbye to those if i get it(unless i can get some hoods with cutouts included.)
If anyone can offer some insight on this i would greatly appreciate it. Also if i do plan on buying the OEM parts myself, a good place to get them from cheap?
Thanx
Dave

To answer your one question, a good CF hood would probably be CHEAPER than an OEM hood replacement.

VIS and Fiber Images both make very good hoods from what I've heard. BTW, for the bumper and fender; have the shop take a sample of the paint on your car to paint it so it matches, and not just have the color code because it'll be brighter/darker than the old color since its old and faded, most likely.

Also about the paint. The last two accidents i was in, Cartech here in Lithia Sprints GA matched the paint perfectly. So i plan to take it to them most definitely. I dont know if they used the color code or took a sample. My paint is in very good shape except for scratches here and there.
Thanx for the help!

Depends how much they want to rape you in price. I couldn't tell you honestly, but OEM hoods are NOT cheap.

Do you know a price range of an OEM hood? It looks like CF hood range from 250-400, depends on the brand and style. I want something close to OEM, but maybe a little different, not sure.

You can get a VIS OEM STYLE HOOD off ebay shipped for 400 dollars. THis is VIS, brand new. You might say **** ebay, but you can get good deals off ebay. But I understand if you dont feel secure about it..
