another thing is people often mistake power gain from simply replacing old plugs with new ones. sometimes you also get the placebo effect also. which is when one thinks that since they spent $$$ on something makes them feel like they noticed a power gain.

but yeah, what you said is true.
btw, my friend, which is a "real racer" in your terms, has copper plugs in his car and he has always changed it at 2000 miles. he drove it to 3500 one time and then bang, engine rebuild #2. maybe it's because it's an FI car.
