Default Tinting

I have an 03 Accord EX v6 nv.
Red, spoiler.

I wanted to tint the windows, until I was told by someone that it is illegal in NY state to tint front drivers and passanger windows. Ticket is $75 and/or you have to pull tint off. Putting tint on the rear window and back side windows would like like ass, I think. Anyone have a similar problem, in NY or something. Im hoping that it is one of those laws that they dont enforce.

it's not consistently enforced anywhere,if a cop is bored, in a bad mood, he'll most likely mess with you. It's rare for people to get tint tickets, but it does happen.

Yeah, I had 5% on my Talon for 2 years & never had any probs, the guy who bought it got nailed within a week. It all depends on the cop. If any tint is a no-no on the fs windows, I'd stay on the lighter side, maybe 30%.

Yeah, I live in NYC. I got pulled over 1 time back when I was a kid. I have always had tint (usually in the 30% range). One time in my 18+ years of driving is not so bad.

Go for it.

Btw, can you post some pics of that Red beauty of yours?

Pics are coming soon. The spoiler and MP3 player just came in today....they had a problem ordering them, will be installed tomorrow. I don't want to take any pics until at least the spoiler is put on. not to mention the weather here right now is rainy. I want to wait for a sunny day to take some pics.

After doing some research. 30% is the legal limit in NYS, of course, it is 30% block, so 70% of light goes through (what a bitch). I'm still trying to decide if I should put on a 30% tint of my own because: let's say I get pulled over twice.. $150. I wouldnt mind that much pulling the tint off the front windows..BUT...the rear window has the radio antenna and all that other crap built in, so pulling the tint off would be nearly impossible I imagine. I don't want to end up with a coupe that has the rear window tinted with the fronts naked, looks like crap.

You have as much chance of getting pulled over twice (let alone once) as getting hit by lightning. Now, if you violate driving law for some other reason and the cop is a real jerk then that is another story.

Plus, you live in NY? Haven't you seen the number of tinted windows out there?

3 in 6 months is a pretty crappy track record. For me that would run $450/year. Pretty unacceptable. I'd rather ditch the tint and spend the money doing other stuff to the car. Problem is that there isn't much I can do to it yet....yet :-D

Sure. when I lived in NYC proper, there were tinted windows everywhere. I'm up in Rochester, NY now....near Canada, and there aren't that many tinted windows around. But we shall see.

I just got 50% all around. IMO it looks really nice. I had it professionally installed at a Mercedes-Benz dealer where they install the exact same tint on all of their new cars. All the work was done in New York. I say go for it!
