I assume he means just to soften the plastic some. Yeh I actually tried holding a lighter under mine lol.

You take a knife and you heat it up with the gas stove. Then when the tip is hot you can melt or cut the guides away.

you can also use wire cutters the small ones and cut them off takes a few seconds

Just to let you know, you don't have to modify the 9005 bulb to fit the 9006 socket. A lot easier method is to modify the 9006 socket to accept the 9005 bulb.

OK, OK, it's not really bad as it sounds....In the 9006 socket, there is a plastic piece that prevents the 9005 bulb from fitting. All you have to do is get a small needle nose pliers and remove the snap in clip. Once you remove it, you can fit the 9005 in there, you can also put the 9006 in there also.

Remember to save the clips, if you ever want to put them back in. BTW, I did this on a 96 Accord with Sylvania Silverstars and saved the 2 clips into a ziplock sandwich bag.

FYI if youre interested, the 93-96 camrys have the 9005/9006 setup as well.
