Well, obviously if you keep them in there too long yes. But the headlight covers are desingned to take a lot of heat from the bulbs, and the silicone that holds them together gets gooey way before the housings melt, so just pay attention and you will be fine. Plenty of ppl have done it before... including me! Now I have both apart, and am masking them off.
