CF hood questions

BTW the weight savings is quite a bit and on a maroon car it would look sweet.
If you don't like the hood pins get them and mount them underneath with a latch system. Its hard to explain what I mean really but because of the design of the hood and the fact that at speed it will pull up on the corners of the hood.....latch breakage is very common so hood pins are a must.

I'm glad you asked this. I was thinking about gettign CF hood and my car is maroon.
I do have a question. can you get it with OEM latches and what not or do you HAVE to use hood pins? I kind like the look of pins but would prefer without.

where is a god place to get one???? I checked FiberImage.com but they charge for every little thing. form what I gather the basic they send you is a rough cut hood and you have to sand it and finish it. I may be wrong but i dont know.

I always reccomend hood pins no matter what with a CF or Fiberglass hood. They come with a latch point that matches stock but with the wind pushing up the sides the mount point tends to split out of the hood causing it to fly up.
Many will say they haven't had this problem but i have seen it enough to never have one without pins in it or some kind of latch system on the sides of the hood along with the center latch.

I have a ViS cf hood. I dont have pins. They're sitting in my garage. I bought them locally when I ordered the hood from ViS. I've had the hood for about 8 months, without using pins, And I drive fast, especially highway. The only flexing I have is towards the middle of the hood, on the sides, none in the front corners, I had someone pace me and check. You might want to lower your latch so It holds the hood down tighter, that really helps. I've checked my hood latch about aver month or so, to see if there are any stress cracks or anything, and have found no indications of such. It all depends on the brand of hood you're buying. I went with the ViS over the fiberimages because it is a sturdier hood, I compared the 2 and the ViS had a much better skeleton on it, and more material laid around the latch.
