Resale value manual vs. auto

Resale value manual vs. auto
Ya'll. I'm looking at buying my first Honda and I'm very close to getting the Accord EX. My dilemma is whether to get the 2.4L EX 5-speed, or the V6 EX Auto. This car will remain stock as I'm only going to keep it for a few years and want to sell an unmodified car. That said, I think I'd enjoy the 2.4L mated with the 5-speed due to better handling and better control over the transmission. My only reason for even considering an automatic, is resale value.
I drive sticks, period. But not everyone is like me, I understand. Does anyone have experience comparing the resale values on an automatic vs. manual Accord? I'm guessing that the automatic will keep the value better and also sell better when I'm ready to sell, considering "most" buyers of the sedan, are new families, not intending to buy a "spirited" car, as much as a dependable car.

Although I would personally pay more for a Manual... the resale value on an Auto is definitely higher than that of a Manual... If its a sedan especially, I would reccomend an Auto... and btw what year because in this case I think that actually plays a role.

I have an 02 EX 5-spd. I thought about the same thing when I was shopping for my car. But now, I gotta tell you - I know I made the right choice. A friend of mine has the exact same car with an automatic, and that car feels like grandma's grocery getter compared to mine.

The above posters are correct. Resale value for almost all cars (the exception would be certain sports/exotic cars) are higher if they come with automatic transmissions...because 1) everyone drives auto's, and 2) usually auto's are more expensive to begin with (though not by much).
However, in the case of the Accord, I should think there are enough potential buyers that it really wouldn't matter significantly.

Decisions decisions. This would be an easier decision me thinks, if the Acura TSX were out right now. It boils down to A) Can I drive a boring automatic for 3 years and be content and B) How easy can I ditch it after 3 years.
In case you're wondering, 3 years is a magic number for me due to a plethora of redesigns that will have made it out by then from the various manufacturer's I'm considering. (VW Passat, Acura TL, Acura TSX, Subaru Forrester 2.5 Turbo, Audi A6, Ford Mustang GT, etc.) The Accord will be a nice and inexpensive, interim car. (not so cheap for the V6).
