The SU defense definitely picked up, but our last 3 possessions saw Brandon Knight holding the ball until 10-12 seconds were left in the shot clock, after which we were left to force up some garbage or turn the ball over.

As far as the ref acknowledging it, he was staring right at him when he called it, so his acknowledgment should be pretty close to simultaneous. The ESPN announcers both agreed that it should have been at least 1.2 (one even thought 1.4). Not to be bitter, but EVERYTHING fell into place for SU down the stretch. I've been a Pitt fan since I was 6 years old (grew up in Pittsburgh) and graduated in 93 - it just pains me to be so close to #1, only to watch it slip away. Granted, regular season ratings mean squat - it just would have been nice.

Hopefully we will get another look at the Orange in the Big East tourney.

That will be a very good game, on neutral grounds. As long as one of us can take care of Notre Dame, it should be a very doable match. Unless, of course, Syracuse self destructs like last year
