Default so...

So just to re-iterate
Option 1. Get 16" Alloys with new tires and keep existing 15" with steel for winter.

Option 2. Get 15" Alloys and put the factory tires on them for summer, and get new winter tires for the steel for winter.

BTW I live in Calgary, AB, Canada where it snows quite a bit and was wondering if anyone has experience driving with the honda factory tires in snowy weather. I just want to know if they grip good.

Yeah I already have a set of Advan Kreuzers on my 00' Honda Prelude as well. I'm with you, it's one of the best looking rims available! I ordered a set from www.wheeloptions.com (Discount Tires Center of El Monte, California) for $2190.00 not including cost of tires. I've already got the tires from Discount Tires here in Washington State for $609.00 (Yokohama AVS ES100s 225/40 series).

I'll be trading in the damage car as soon as I get it back for a new one. I'm looking at getting the Accord in black this time.
Wheeloptions.com doesnt have the prices online......so have you compared their prices with wheelmax by anychance? if so, which site has cheaper prices? and as far as the trading in goes, how do you trade in a busted car for a new one? even tho its fixed, how much extra will you have to pay to get a brand new one? Please explain how this works. I don think they'll give u a new one for free in replacement of the 1.5 month used accord, correct?

To save some cash I was thinking of getting 15" alloys and putting the factory tires on them and getting snow tires for the steel rims. Is this a good idea? as far as i'm concerned I'm not worried about the performance of the factory tires, I don't race or anything. So anyways thanks and let me know what's best
If you live in a really snowy area and drive alot in snow, I would suggest winter tires. The all seasonals suck in the snow and they suck for performance in the dry. I have Blizzak MZ-01's and the winter performance is amazing...I can stop in 5-6 inches of snow and then accelerate off normally. I then put on Maximum Performance Bridgestone Potenza S-03's in the summer...not for racing(tires are too expensive to chirp and waste rubber), but for ride comfort, handling, acceleration, deceleration, and road feel. As far as 15" or 16", it's your choice. Obviously 16" is going to look alot better but will run you a couple hundred more. Why not try to pick up some 16" Honda Accord alloy wheels? Call around to the dealerships and see if they inherited any...sometimes people upgrade their stock 16" alloys to 17" or another design 16" from Honda, so the dealership gets em for free and can sell them to you for cheap. Also look on EBay...that's where I got my 16" 98-00 EX-V6 Coupe alloys for only $300 using the system described above. They list for like $900.

And welcome to HAN

Chris

tks a lot for the info, one problem i ran across is whether to buy an Acura 1.7EL or Accord Sedan 2003. The accord seems to have a tranny problem check:
http://www.acuraworld.com/forums/sho...threadid=17445
And the civic/1.7EL seems to decline in quality and both cars are starting to scare me off from buying a honda/acura. Now is the quality questionable just for ones coming out of American plants?
And tks for the answer to my tires and wheels dilemma

Please read my reply to you in the EL forum, and try not to post the same thing in two different forums in the future. Thanks.

You'll have to contact wheeloptions.com for a price quote or you can checkout www.importhookup.com who deals with wheeloptions.com who has some prices already listed. Wheeloptions.com mainly deals with import rims but can also get you most popular wheels as well. Wheeloptions.com is actually Discount Tires Center located in El Monte, California.

I believe Wheelmax.com has cheaper prices and comes with wheel and tire packages but I'm not too sure if they can get you import rims such as Advans, Volks, etc.

As for the trade-in. I can trade in the car for a new one but I really lose out but if I'm compensated for the loss of value by the insurance company for my damage new car I'll be able to use that money as a down payment for a new one. The Honda dealership said since my car has been involved in an accident the loss of value for my Accord was $3000.00

I know how you feel! Isn't it torture??

I'm on my mid-second week of waiting...mine should be in by the end of this week or next week. It's horrible cuz you think about it like every few hours...for 2-3 weeks!
