Default Tranny Troubles

Usually this is about auto trannies in the 6th gen V6's... nope, this is my manual in my 5th gen. I totally lost 4th gear... The shifter just wont go into 4th... I checked all the cables, nothing has changed or broken... and all my other gears work fine. I noticed though, when I down shift out of 5th, the shifter is hard to work... its normally nice and easy to move and all... but its not now, it takes me a second to find 3rd. Theres plenty of fluid in the tranny... and to dosent really make any funny noises... although when i'm in 5th gear, usually crusing on the highway (65mph on up) I hear a slight humming noise from the tranny... and if I let off the gas, it stops... so its only when there is power going through the tranny in 5th. It has done that for a while, so I never thought much of it... but now this happens.

5 speed trannies are not that hard to come by for this car, so I wont be hesitant to change it, as it most likely wont be too expensive. There arent any good tranny shops around here... and if there was, they'd charge an arm and a leg just to look at it. The guy I bought the car from deals only with Honda's and Acura's (smart guy!) and he can get me good deals on parts... so i'll probably get a tranny from him.
But now what Im wondering is, will a prelude tranny fit? If so, do you think it would be better for my engine... as far as getting power out of it? Im not too concerned about my top speed... just more out of the hole acceleration... and the gears in my tranny now seem too long to make the car go anywhere fast. In theroy, shorter gears would get my car up to speed faster... with more shifting obviously, but I dunno if the trannies ratios would work well with the power band in a f22. And no, I do not have the $$ for a full h22 swap.

Ok, for those of you that took the time to read my looonnnggg ass post, what do you think my options are? am i stuck with the f22 tranny, or will a h22 tranny work?

thanks! and sorry for the length!:fawk:

H22 tranny will be too short for the F22 .
