Has anyone considered installing tweeters in the black triangular caps covering the inside of the side mirrors? (on 5th Gen LX's)
This would put them in roughly the same spot as the Civic EX's.

My neighbor has factory tweeters on her 94 Accord EX. There o the top of the dash, right at the end of the windsheild. I guess that would be right above the vents that your talking about??

I have my Kappa 60.5cs components mounted at the stock locations...midrange woofer down at the door and tweeters at the stock dash corners. Yes, mounting them on the window sail allows for best imaging, but I wanted the car to be as stock as possible.
Having the tweeters at the dash corners isn't THAT bad, just make sure you use the crossovers that were made for the components and you should be fine, I also set the HU to have it play just slightly louder in the front to compensate for the poorer imaging since the rear 6x9s are at the perfect imaging on the rear deck so they sound great.
The problem you'll get with installing in your LX is the lack of stock wiring. Wut I would propose doing, is goin to a junkyard and try to find the EX dash tweeter's housing so it'll fit perfectly. The housing will come with the stock harness that you may not use, you'll just connect the tweeter wires to the crossovers. You may have a problem mounting the aftermarket tweeters onto the stock housing as their depths vary, but all this takes is a little ingenuity...you'll see wut I mean when you take everything apart.
Honestly, the accord's imaging in the front is really bad...mids are set too low, and the tweeters are at a ridiculous place. But some good components will make a world of difference...you'll love the music that much more.
Hopefully this helps...lemme know how it goes!

I read in a book about car stereos that you don't want the tweeters too far away from the mids. For it to sound right the mids and highs should come from the same place.
I dunno. I wish I didn't mind cutting holes in the door panels. You could put one pretty easily in the area between the current speaker and the arm rest.

There are exceptions to every rule, of course, but for the most part, you should stick to this for the best imaging.
