Default Wiring for 2 interior neon lights. Help...

I have one neon light under the drivers footwell that plugs into the cig. lighter. I am going to get another one for the passenger side, Do I need to get a cig. light splitter for both plugs? I was thinking of using one plug for both by connecting the 2 light's wires together. Based on my small knowledge of electric circuits, the same voltage and hence current(same resistance in wires) through each should be the same since it is a parallel circuit. Would this work? Thanks

I just tapped into my switched 12V ignition wire behind my console and grounded to one of the many ground bolts you can find back there.

The neon tubes I bought from pepboys came with a cig lighter plug, I just cut that sucker off. PPl say interior neon tubs are pure rice or a cheesy mod... :fawk: to each his own!

I was thinking about cutting the plug and wiring it directly, but then my brother broke one of my black lights so I decided not to for now. I placed 'em behind my headrests, and they look pretty good. If I get another set they will go under the footwells just like Bruce did. To each his own is right! If we have just a few tubes it's alright. Now, the other day I saw this absolute beater lit up like Vegas inside, and it was a little much, even for me.

i'm getting cold cathodes if you don't know what they are, cold cathodes are used to backlight notebook and other low-powered LCD screens. the ones not used for backlights are brighter, smaller, and generate less heat than neon tubes. woohoo!

but i'm having a little trouble finding a ground in the driver's side footwell that i could screw a spade connector to. there are plenty of bolts, but they're all too large..

i have the whole thing right now wired up to the back of the cig lighter. i just used a tap to tap into the power line, and ran a wire down in the footwell. there i have a 10 amp fuse (just in case).

I agree with having too many being gaudy. This is my second one and the only reason is I don't like only having one side light up makes me feel like the other side is too empty.

I have Street Glow neons in my foot wells. (removeing them ASAP) I ran the power to the fuse box under the dash and the ground to a switch in the center concole. Nice clean look. no extra wires running under the hood adn crap. and they turn off when my parking lights are off.

Yeah i did this the beg of the year. Problem is that people keep breaking hte passenger side neon. I don't know where to put it. I put it all the way to the front and then screwed it to the carpet, but people keep puttin their feet on it by accident and breakin it. So instead, i'm thinking of gettin 2 small ones and tryin to fit it underneathe the pass side dash. any suggestions?

Kim what size neons do you have down there..
I used 2 8" neons... kinda small but just enough blue light that gives that cool blue glow. It's small enough to be tucked waaay back there and I havent had any problems with long legged big footed ppl in the passenger seat

yeah i used 2 10" neons. I tucked the passenger one way in the back but people still crack it with their feet. I'm trying to figure out a way to tuck it under the dash on the passenger side w/o making it ugly...

I have a 9" mini tube under each side of the dash and a 5" ultra mini under each seat(the key to neon is hiding the tubes, to me it's tacky if you can see them) I grounded them as close as I could then ran the + wire from each to a central relay, and I take the relay input and one side of the coil to a fuse then to + and the other side of the coil to the door pin switch, so when you open the doors my floor glows blue. when you close them, 30 seconds later they turn off. Personally I see no reason to have them on while driving, but if you really wanted to you could connect a switch with a diode to the relay and ground the other side of the switch.

doesn't look "ricey" if you ask me, especially when you get a whole theme going.

Also you can just go get some T-Taps and cut the connector off of one side and then tap into the plug for the other, the lighter should be able to support two of them, because plugging them into the lighter is the same as adding them parallel to the battery, so it doesn't matter it it's 1 or 20, other than the load consideration.
