I dont think they made the coupe in V6 form for those years. You will have to step up to the 98 and up which will give you a better looking coupe IMO. If you get a 4 cylinder get it in stick.

Yeah, dont get an auto accord. If you look through a few pages back on this forum, you'll know what I mean.

I bought my dad a 94 accord 4 door EX with 101k miles on it early last year.....changed the oil, plugs, filter, plug wires, and atf. Car's been running flawlessly. They're great reliable commuter cars aside from some cosmetic imperfections and such here there which can easily be taken care of.

Wrong, please don't give out misinformation. The 98 V6 automatic would be the LAST car you want to get due a tranny problem associated with the 6th gen V6 automatics. I know cause I had one.

Another genius with generalized misinformation. There's nothing wrong with an automatic 5th gen accord.

Great choice. The 4-cylinders are a little low on power, but are EXTREMELY reliable. I've got a 96 Accord with 207k miles and the engine has never had a problem and still runs just as good as it did when I bought the car with 45k miles. I'd get in the car tonight and drive it across country. The transmission did have to be replaced at 205k miles, but I feel that is a good run for an automatic transmission. Engine wise, it has only needed a starter (original went 180k), front motor mount, radiator at about 120k and an O2 sensor at about 140k miles. That's it outside of basic maintenance items. Original AC can still freeze me out of the car. As far as common problems, really nothing major. Heat shields get loose and cause a vibration at around 2k rpms, power door locks usually become inoperative in rear doors and 'buzz' when you press the lock button, power window regulators can give you fits (only the driver's side has given me problems in my car. The other 3 windows are slow, but still work fine) B/mid-pipes rust out, vehicle speed sensors are common and the MFR (Main Fuel Relay) is sometimes problematic in older Hondas. I believe there was a recall for the ignition switches in 97s and all Hondas from 95-97 are under a 14 year/150k miles extended emissions warranty which covers any emissions related item (vehicle speed sensor included) along with O2 sensors and many other items. My car hasn't yet had any issues with the MFR or VSS. Good luck with the search, there are PLENTY of them out there, so find a clean one with a good service history. Make sure the timing belt has been changed and change it along with the water pump, balance shaft belt and oil seal every 90,000 miles. The engines in these cars CAN go 300,000+ miles without ever breaking down when basic maintenance is followed. I still see many 90-93 Accords (which are mechanically similar) on the road everyday, so the 5th gens will be around a while.

The 5th Gen accord is a damn good vehicle no matter the trim, transmission or engine. I personally would opt for the 4 cylinder EX trim with a manual. The V6 is good but with fuel prices the 4 banger would offer a bit more economy. The EX engine has VTEC which increases power output by about 15hp while keeping mileage the same (if not better).

If you're all for the auto then go for it, there's certainly nothing wrong with them. But the manual will free up a little more power and is more fun to drive IMO. But again, this is preference.

You may want to consider upping to the 6th gen (98-02) Accord depending on your preferences. They get the same mileage but are larger and have a bit more power. There are plenty for sale in the 5K - 7K range if you're willing to go for one with over 100K miles. While catagorized as mid-sized sedans, the 5th gen and older Accords are really glorified compacts. If you really want a vehicle that 4 people could comfortably ride in then get a 6th gen. If you want a car a little larger than a compact but not quite as big as a mid-sized, then get a 5th gen.

As was mentioned earlier, if you get a 6th gen with an auto, make sure it has been taken care of. The auto's in the 6th gens aren't exactly the hallmark of reliability. Honda sort of screwed the pooch on this one. Some have problems and some don't, but the chance of you having problems with a 6th gen auto are considerably higher than in a 5th gen (where they didn't cheap out on the carrier bearings).

Make damn sure the check engine light doesn't throw any codes if you have to do a sfaety inpection where you are. Mine does because of a torque converter code, tranny feels fine, but it will take a couple bucks to fix it.

Check for rust in the usual behind the rear wheel area.

Other than that my 96 LX has been pretty good. Bought it with 195,000 miles and a blown motor. Replaced that with one with 150,000 and it's been a decent car. Parts aren't bad if anything goes anyway.
The previous owner didn't know what maintainance was and it's still a decent car. If you find a well maintained one, you'll be happy.
