the 7500 of 10k whatever is under optimal conditions. why not change it after 3k it's not like it will break the bank.

It won't break the bank but it is wasteful if it is not needed and unless you detect sluggish peformance it's not going to harm your engine. These manufacturers spend years of time and millions of dollars on the research to make this possible. People want things that are going to last a long time, and are relatively low maintenance. They also want to feel like they are getting the most for their dollar. Manufacturers responded with cars that can no go longer intervals before the oil is changed and much farther before you have to fill up your gas tank. These things are also better for the environment. If you drive hard or in extreme conditions, then yeah maybe do the changes a little more often. But if not, if you drive normal, then wake up, relaize this is the 21st century and stop being so paranoid over these oil change theories. The best thing to do is follow the recommendations the manufacturer has issued and maybe use BETTER oils and gas each time you do the change. Save your money, spend it on something else and maybe help revive this economy so another jobless American can get hired somewhere to help support his family!

yup, thats right. check ur maintence books. the 6th gen accords r fairly high. however, under extreme circumstances, which include rush hour traffic and frequent city miles, it is recommended at change the oil every 3,000 miles.
actually, the extreme conditions milage is 3750mi. i change both my accord and civic every 7500mi with sythetic. my mom's benz goes 10k-12k btw changes on synthetic.

What are you talking about? My oil turns BLACK @ 4000k . I have an ULEV engine. ULTRA LOW EMISSION VEHICLE made me lose 4-5hp from the regular 2.3 engine. I change my oil when it turns Brownish Black which is around 3000-3500K.

I agree that if you drive hard (lead foot) you should change your oil more often. But to listen to Manufactures... So do want to pay MSRP for your car? Of course not, the Manufacture Suggests you to change your oil at 7k-10k dpending on the type of car you have. The manufacture Suggestion can be used as a guide line use your judgement. Honda engineers design cars to last about 10 years which is around 100k miles so if you wish to keep your car for that long do as the manufacture SUGGESTS if you will keep your car longer then change your oil more often. USE YOUR JUDGEMENT If your oild turns BLACK then change it if you can see a hint of Yellow\gold then keep driving.
