hahaha, i have to spend $5k more for the M3 actually...it's black, 5 speed manual...pretty sexy...but that's kinda expensive

I'd do it. 328>Accord
When I finish dental school in 2.5 years, I'll drive the Accord for a year or so more, then it's e46 330i for me. By then they might have a new body style, but I'll have ~$125K in loans to pay off, so a used one will treat me fine.

 

The '98 is the old body style if I'm not mistaken. Keep looking and get one with the new body style, I think '99 and above. Those seem to hold their value better. They're great cars but mechanically speaking, it's no honda. Just be aware of that.

 

98 is the old body style, but why do you think the E46 would hold its value better? Being a generation older, it'd obviously be worth more, but would be more expensive.

I'd get the '98, no doubt. Any pics of it for us?

 

93-98 coupe and sedan=E36 body style
99 sedan=E46.
99 coupe (which is what he's looking at) is E36 body style
'00 coupe is E46 body style
So...if he's looking for a coupe, 99 would look just like the 98.
Another thing to consider is parts will be more expensive and I would assume the warranty would be up unless you got an extended one.
But...I would still do it!
