Default JDM Headlight...High Beam???!!??

Okay everyone...

Got my 94 Accord JDM Headlight install done...that shi#@$ was hard. Anyways...does anyone know why the high beam does not work. When I flash my highbeams without anything on..my regular lights flash, when my headlights are on nothing flashes.

The headlights did come with a H4 conversion (sucks..love the 9006) but check the wiring setup..seems to be good. I've been trying to troubleshoot this thing for 1hour now, don't know what's up. Might give urbanimports.com and ask them what's going on.

Any help would be appreciated!

are you using the H4 high beam? or the H1 for the high beam??

Its weird how the headlights work... there is always power to them, and when the lights are switched on the ground is switched... same with the high beam... so there maybe a problem with the wirring.

I'm using the H1 for a high beam.

I noticed on the H4 light there's three prongs, but only two are used. The H1 has two prongs, does it matter which side is ground or power?

The only thing I can think of is to possibly switch the wires around on the H4 bulb harness, maybe the other prong not used is the one that is suppose to be...

thanks for the feedback

Okay..did some experimenting

I took the harness off the H1 bulb in the JDM housing and hooked the 9005 bulb back up...it worked fine.

What are the technical specs on a H1 and 9005 bulb? How would that effect the high beam working and not working? Maybe I will try to modify the housing to except a 9005 bulb....dammit

the pattern and cutoff on the h4 is far superior to the 9006. did u check to see if the filament is broken in the h1?
the lights are plug and play, you dont need to modify anything.

installing the lights arent all that hard, just a bit time consuming.

If the 9005 bulbs work fine, check all the connections for the H1 adapter harness. It does not matter which is the positive and negative on the H1 bulb. The H4 bulb has 3 terminals because one is the ground, one is positive for the low beam and one is positive for the high beam. Ive heard that both the high and low beam on the H4 bulb cannot be on at the same time, due to the heat, it blows the bulb.

Just check your connections...

The low beams should be on all the time, weather the high beams are on or not... make sure the H4 bulbs are wired properly too... only one filament should be working.

Thanks...you were right on the money.

I took apart all of the H1 harness and reassembled, driver side worked fine.

Passenger side req'd me to purchase a new bulb (sucks, brand new set-up) but oh well..all the effort i have been putting into this just glad I was able to resolve it.

The only thing i'm trying to figure out now..is adjusting the headlight angle. I believe there are 2 screws to turn? Is there any easy way to do this...seems like the angle on the passenger side is jacked no matter how much I adjust it.

OMG you suck if you think 9006 is better

I got the low beams wired up with the dual filament mode. Kicks ass, and is very bright. It also allows me day time running lights during the day.

You got the dual filaments working huh

Won't that possibly blow your bulb, with the extra heat?
Or did you hook up an extra switch for it?
