this is the first i've heard about HID tickets.
I could only image how bright they are at 10k,....
im using 6000k and those are just right. No tickets here!....

Honestly, you should pay the ticket. Judges are not stupid they'll have someone research that Your model car does not come stock with HID's.

Did you get stopped at a check poiint? or did they pull you over?

It's pretty common to get pulled over when you have extremely colored bulbs (blue and that God aweful purple 12k). Actually the higher you stray away from 4300k (pure white) the less light it omits so it's not brighter. So at 10k you're putting less light on the road at night in sacrafice for just the color.

Nah I got a speeding ticket and he just felt like adding on. I got a friend that works at the local cop shithole, he said they are pushing quotas for their tickets.

I spoke to a attorney and she said it can be dismissed. Im not paying 60$. No cop ever bothered me before about it.

thats the 3rd problem with police this month. 1st was they thought i was selling weed beheind a movie theatre when i was leaving. 2nd was a cop that didnt like my Exhaust (PBA card handled it). 3rd is this.

the feds are OUT in NYC.

Believe it or not, if the ticket gets dismissed your still going to have attorney fee's that may exceed the 60 bucks.

Bottom line is they are not DOT approved... So you will lose.
I tried years ago to get outta a ticket for aftermarket tail lights...
I bought the 99-00 civic tail lights for my 93 (with the clear turn signal cover instead of orange like stock 93) from Ebay and the color of the red part (for the brake light) was not deep enough...
Basically I had to pay 2 tickets, one for wrong color red brake lights and one for not orange enough turn signals. I was soo pissed. I wasn't trying to get any "Aftermarket" tail lights, its just that the ones I bought were much cheaper than OEM replacements.

The a-hole cop who ticketed me told the judge the following:
" I have a truck your honor, and if I would put anythong aftermarket on it, I would first check to see if it was DOT approved".
I basically tried to defend myself, by stating that I had no idea that they had to be DOT approved, and they were just a replacement pair and not altezza type illegal tail lights.
I was found guilty and had to pay. You will too, so don't fight it...

Might as well take them illegal-ass HIDs off of there...
I saw a crown vic the other day with super blue HIDs, like blue I've never seen before...
It was just a matter of time before he was pulled over, cause the lights are soo unlike anything else, they stand out like a sore thumb...

Who the hell checks to see if their lights etc... are DOT approved?
Honestly, if i need to get replacement lights the first, second or third thing i wouldnt do is to search if its DOT approved.
To me, if they are being sold to the public then obviously they must be legal.
